I've been deep in the climate tech space for a while now, and one thing has become clear to me: finding the right investors is hard. Not because they don't exist - there are thousands out there - but because the information is scattered, outdated, or locked behind paywalls. So, I decided to do something about it.

Why I Built This

I started compiling a list of climate tech investors to help founders like myself navigate the complex funding landscape. What began as a personal project quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, the database includes over 1,500 investors: angels, VCs, CVCs, family offices, PE firms, venture builders, and accelerators. It's already one of the most comprehensive resources out there.

But I know it can be even better.

The Climate Tech Funding Landscape

Climate tech is attracting significant attention from investors. In 2024 alone, U.S. climate tech startups secured $24.0 billion in investments, following a similar investment of $24.8 billion in the previous year (source). Globally, climate tech investment now represents almost 20% of all global tech funding, a number that has doubled in the past three years.

Despite this growth, challenges remain. Global climate tech equity financing fell 40% in 2024, signaling an uphill battle for emerging decarbonization technologies (source). This decline highlights the need for more accessible and transparent investor information to help startups secure the funding they need.

The Power of Open, Crowd-Sourced Data

That's why I made the database not only easy to access (no signup required) but also crowd-sourced. You can add or edit investor information seamlessly. All submissions go through quality checks to ensure accuracy, but the process is straightforward for contributors. If you come across an investor listing that's outdated or shouldn't be there, you can request its deletion.

This is a resource for everyone, so it should be curated by everyone. I invite you to tag every investor focused on climate tech and sustainability that you think should be in the database. Go ahead and make your submissions. Together, we can build a tool that serves the entire climate tech community.

Why an Open Approach Matters

Initially, I considered granting access only to Climestart members. But I realized there's more potential in an open approach. By making the database freely accessible, we can foster greater collaboration and innovation in the climate tech space.

Members will eventually get access to cool tools that leverage this database, so consider getting your early bird lifetime membership before it's too late.

Let's create the one Climate Tech Investor Database to rule them all. I've done the heavy lifting - now I need your help to take it from good to great.
